Box Five, Look Alive!

First off, if you haven't already put your name down for the A R T I C U N O GIVEAWAY then make sure you get on that!  Three people have entered, so you're chances of winning an arctic bird are very high!

This Box wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, although some tricky GTS trades were made and some valuable pokémon, inherited from a used game, were traded for the legendary birds.

When I first got the used copy of Omega Ruby and discovered all the rare pokémon and shiny pokémon with perfect 6iv stats and shiny legendaries, I was like... Whoa. This player must have spent months getting these! Not only that, but she was really lucky! Oh, Court Fool. So naïve!

Because then I discovered that shiny legendaries are either known Event Pokémon... or hacks

So that player — I'm going to call her Player One — either hacked her own pokémon, or traded for them.  I'm not against hacked pokémon, really, but I don't find them as valuable as legit ones.  So, I wasn't too upset to trade a shiny Sylveon for an Articuno. (The Articuno was named "Ice Kareem," a play on a Middle Eastern name.  At first I was put out, but now the moniker has kind of grown on me.) I also traded Player One's Mewtwo for a Zapdos.

I caught my own Moltres after plenty of angst, and that rounded out the Legendary Birds.  Funnily enough, in May, Nintendo is going to mail out codes for all three birds to select members of a mailing list I joined.  So I may be getting copies of the birds soon.  Fingers crossed.

Also inherited from Player One for this box — Porygon and Omanite. I traded an Amaura for a Kabuto on the GTS, bred it, and leveled up one of them into a Kabutops. I also traded over the GTS an Elekid for the Magmar.  The Dragonite was leveled up during the Kalos Dex mission. (It took forever.)

So thus ends Box Five.  That's 150 pokémon officially done.  The next box sees the beginning of Gold, Silver, and Crystal pokémon. Woo hoo!
